POETRY LESSON To my wife Karen My craft is merely words, but hers, Her poetry is written in her living And every single day is but a verse Her rhythm is in actions and in giving She never tries to make me what I'm not, Nor ever tries to force my rhyme to reason. For all time, she forgave, and she forgot All of my transgression and my treason. Truth be known, her meter is my heart Which skips a merry beat to see her smile, My poems have neither sophistry nor art To ever match her simple grace and style. Despite our differences we rhyme, you see A lovely couplet in her poetry.
