SONOGRAM The baby has been still now For several days or more So we've come to this strange moment And bravely we explore. The ultra-sound petition Is an anxious, wordless plea: And the silent noise returns To paint your dark topography With a whisper through your being That craves a counter claim. We seek answers in the image Of this alien terrain. While we're praying for the best And preparing for the worst, I still marvel this is you, This amazing universe. Encompassed in the scope we see A private empty place, And the pucker of a crater, And the truth it might embrace. We ignore the Doppler waveforms That up and downward knife.... Look! The echo of a heartbeat, The reflection of a life!
