CASEY JONES

You would rumble through this nation
Never stopped long at any station,
You were my hero, Casey Jones, where can you be?
Did you feel the way I do?
Did you run to or from the truth?
Did you find wonder in the many things you'd see?

A lovely sunset you'd pass by
Caught out the corner of your eye,
Nothing touched you very long, but were you free?
'Cause you were taken by the speed
Of your mighty Iron steed,
It was your death that put your name in history.

I too run down these tracks,
And never do much lookin' back
My thoughts are churnin' like these wheels under me...
Yes I am on my way again
But this time home lies at the end,
Because a man who has to run ain't really free.
