CHILDHOOD"S END

Measuring the miles by the railroad ties
I'm runnin' down the tracks again.
I wonder which direction my future lies,
How far is it to Childhood's End?
Do you know the way? Do you know the way?

Well Childhood's End is a sad kind of place,
'Cause it's a place of long goodbyes,
But I'm finaly goin'a get t' give life a taste,
Unsweetened by a lulabye
I'm on my way! I'm on my way!

Think I might have passed it, back down the tracks,
Think I might have passed it a long way back,
Think I might've passed it, but I realy couldn't say for sure,
It's just another stop and I can't go back
Not back to how it was before...

When I was a child, I thought as a child
I spoke as a child and understood as a child,
But when I became a man I put away.....
I put away my childhood things

Think I might have passed it back down the tracks,
Think I might have passed it a long way back,

'Cause it's a rinky-dink stop, just a trackside dump
When you're riding on a train of thought
Between your highschool sweetheart and that first big jump
When you were touched by love and nearly caught.
Do I know the way? Do I know the way?
Yes I know the way, but the sky is grey
At Childhood's End
