HUNDRED MILE DAYS

Each day is like a hundred miles to travel.
In each friend's face I see a stranger smile,
And every hour's a tangle to unravel,
I feel so far from home and such a child.

I wonder if you ever think about me.
On lonely nights my thoughts still turn to you.
Well, if you do, I hope you're thinking kindly,
But what will time and distance do to you?

'Cause time can change the course of mighty rivers
And change a man until he's not himself
And change can be so fast it makes me shiver
But in the end there's really nothing else.

No, nothing else but time till days are journeys
And nothing else but time to sit a while,
To sit a while, while weary memories stir me,
And wonder will you wear a strangers smile.
