WALLS

In a civil Ceremony they
Exchanged their vows and rings
But in the early days of mariage
They ignored the little things.
They were happy they were lovers
Thought that Love alone would do,
Early on they both discovered
It's not true, it's not true.
Early on they both discovered
It's not true.

In a sense they'd long since lost their innocence.
And in a sense they'd long since lost themselves. . . .
Put up walls of anger out of self defence
And built themselves a sad and private hell.

Unfair expectations
Disapointments ran their course
Uncontested separation, an
Amicable divorce
At least there were no children....
That's how the whispers go...
Walls of refuge can be a prison,
Don't you know, don't, you know....
Walls of refuge can be a prison
Don't, you know....

In a sense they'd long since lost their innocence.
And in a sense they'd long since lost themselves. . . .
Put up walls of anger out of self defence
And built themselves a sad and private hell.
